It is sweet, anise/spicy, green-herbaceous aroma with soft woody undertones. In trace amounts, the gentle yet powerful anise/licorice-sweet top notes can add a complimentary note and delightful lift to natural perfumes. The aromatic property reminiscent of Anise is due to the presence of estragole (aka methyl chavicol) - a constituent present at up to 70-88 percent in Tarragon - that is characteristic of Anise, Basil, Fennel, and Ravensara anisata essential oils. Because of this essential oil's estragole content Tarragon should be used in the context of safe and knowledgeable aromatherapeutic practice
